Oil I group. Mineral base oil.
These compounds are obtained by refining petroleum products remaining after receiving gasoline or other fuels and lubricants using chemical reagents. They are also called coarse oils. A significant drawback of such oils is the presence of a large amount of sulfur, more than 0.03%. As for the characteristics, such compositions have poor viscosity index, so they can work normally only in a narrow temperature range. Currently, Group 1 of base oils is considered obsolete and only mineral motor oil is produced from them. The viscosity index of such base oils is 80–120. And the temperature range is from 0 ° C to + 65 ° C. Their only advantage is low price. Mineral motor oil has a mineral base. It is characterized by instability of its characteristics and a high degree of evaporation. That is why additives are added to the base base to enhance the characteristics of the final product.
